Subway now open
Subway officially opens today (Wednesday) although it was also open yesterday where they were offering a free Sub for every visitor between 4.00 and 6.00pm. A bit of a silly time to do this and it resulted in the place being overun with school kids who ended up littering the town with subway wrapping paper. It ended up with staff being put on the door to stop the horde.
Oh well worse things happen in other towns...

Oh well --- Subway was heaving yesterday afternoon. I guess they want to convert all the school kids into their subs, crisps and drink specials. It certainly worked!! The schools and the parents will certainly have a fight on their hands to eat healthy as we already have a Burger King (on the outskirts), KFC, Wimpy, the kebab shop, numerous fish and chip shops and now, Subway. Out of all these fast food outlets, Subway will be the real winner.
Actually i heard the opening was a shambles, their offer of free food was taken over by nothing but school kids and at one point i was told the crowd started chanting "we want food !!!!" They ended up calling the police to move the crowds away from the doors. Finally it was revealed to claim free food a voucher was needed and all the rest of the shop's were moaning that they were not given any vouchers !!!!! Surely a great deal of business will come from the local shop's and offices so they should have been given the opportunity to sample subway's stuff !!! just show's you any freebie and people go berserk !!!
Again, a small piece appeared in the Advertiser about the grand (not so grand!) pre opening of Subway. Apparently, one hundred (100!) school children descended on Subway to take advantage of the pre-opening offer of a FREE sub, drink and crisps. The offer was valid from 4 - 6pm. Anyway, on police advice the place was forced to closed at 4pm as the crowd got a little boisterous (ie. blocking pavements, demanding food etc.) A friend of mine who works nearby said that five police cars turned up to disperse the crowd. What a farce!!
Anyway, a few things spring to mind - 1) imagine if they pulled this stunt in Croydon, South London etc.? There might have been a few stabbings, people crushed etc. and 2) I did not know that there were five police cars in operation any time of the day and night in Mole Valley and that includes the town centre of Dorking!
Noticed that Subway is open most evenings until 10:30pm. Went in yesterday (Monday) evening, got a sub, drink and a chocolate chip cookie. Thought it was a little on the expensive side! Thankfully, it is a massive improvement on the ex-Brown's Cafe.
As for Subway itself, I find all the subs (rolls) taste the same, I cannot taste the difference between the turkey and ham and they charge an extra 20p / 50p for one slice of cheese, one strand of bacon etc. I found it to be a little on the disappointing side.
As I was trying to eat my sub in peace reading the paper, a group of six twelve years olds took over the place starting chucking the napkins and straws all over the place. Sat down sharing their sub between the six of them. They were loud and obnoxious. They stole four drinks, drank them and left all their garbage behind calling the guy who worked there -- a P*ki and should go home to his own country!! What surprised me was they were not your stereotypical chavs but, they were well spoken and probably went to a local public school. I was ashamed and felt sorry for the guy who worked there, as he had to clear all their mess up ie. spilt drinks, salad smeared all over the windows and for good measure, I saw the cretins in the distance kicking over numerous litter bins. A real sad indictment of what our country is coming to! LOSERS/TOSSERS ETC....
It is the rage these days to be an anti-social, uneducated, racist, street talking (ie. from the Hood!)thug. Sad innit!
Even the kids who go to the local secondary schools (ie. The Ashcombe, The Priory etc.) are beginning to sound like they are from the mean estates of Sarf London. They even have the 'street clothes' ie. baseball cap, hoodie, trademark tracksuit. As for the girls - the less clothes they wear, the better!
Don't get me started. I never thought that the chavs would outnumber us in Dorking. Sadly, it is only a matter of time before the law abiding and well educated become the minority.
