Lloyds TSB - Incident
It seemed as if an incident occured at Lloyds TSB bank on Wednesday. There were three police cars outside at lunchtime and one was still there late afternoon.
Does anyone know what happened? Hopefully it wasn't another hold up.

According to the Advertiser, the incident took place on Tuesday afternoon. Apparently, a young man was hanging around the Lloyds TSB and acting suspiciously. So, the staff called called the police and he was promptly arrested. The police were there all day to make sure nothing else happened. The good old Advertiser stated that staff at Dorking Floors next door (sic - should have read Dorking Flowers!) witnessed the whole incident.
I am just hoping that there was not another incident on Wednesday afternoon. Apparently, the police are quite worried about a spate of bank robberies, betting shop robberies across Surrey at the moment. I guess that all calls of this nature to the police are treated with the utmost priority.
DORKING Dan
Wow, Dorking Dan appears to be singing the praises of the Surrey Police, heaven forbid. It shows that the police are there, when the community needs them urgently. For all the people who hark back to times when they used to see a constable pounding the beat, times have moved on. Instead of wasting time walking the beat, the police have to be in their cars targeting the crime hotspots. It is all target driven these days and I am afraid political correctness does rear its ugly head on occasions. I fully support the police and all the wonderful work they do to try and keep us safe. x
Apparently the Lloyds TSB was swarming with police all day who came from as far as Guildford, Epsom and Caterham. Sadly, the police have not got the ability to deal with on the same scale with the general public. My neighbour was assaulted by a group of thugs in the Nower. He called the police only to be told that he should make his way to the East Surrey Hospital, where the police would see him. His nose was broken and he had severe bruising to his eye. He only intervened when he saw the group of youngsters setting fire to the grassy verges of ther Nower and spray painting the benches and signs. The police have since closed the case, as there are no leads or witnesses. Would it hurt to mention this episode on the Surrey Police website or in the local press - Dorking Advertiser, surrey Advertiser?
There was some very nasty incidents in Dorking late on Friday evening. Have heard that a very large group of people in their late teens from Leatherhead and Tadworth descended on Dorking to fight youths from the area. There were numerous fights around Dorking train station, the Meadowbank, London Road etc. Apparently, there was five people that were treated for head injuries. These fights were pre-planned and there are rumours that even golf clubs and baseball bats were used. I heard this in my local pub and earlier this afternoon, it seemed to be the hot topic in Leatherhead amongst a group of boys hanging around the Swan Centre. Hopefully, the police can stop these thugs in their tracks. In the 1960's and 1970's, there was a lot of bad feeling between the youths of Leatherhead and Dorking, I am just hoping that this kind of stuff does not resurface.

Just checked the BBC website for Surrey news and there is quite a substantial piece about the disorder that occurred on Friday night. It is under the heading of - Youth Violence Erupts Across Town. Pretty scary and makes for very grim reading. Hopefully, there will not be any retaliation from the Dorking youths.
