The Old House - More trouble

I was out on Sunday night during the Easter break. It is great to be able to go out and have a good session when you don't have to get up in the morning!

It was sad to see a punch up in the Old House which then spilled out onto West Street. Many people had been out on a 'Super Sunday' drinking session so there were many very intoxicated drinkers come the evening.

The trouble itself was not the fault of the pub itself and was just a case of bad luck. A couple of prats who ended up having a fight over a personal dispute. It was quickly dissolved but unfortunately a window was also smashed in West Street.

This doesn't bode well after the recent controversy surrounding the pub and the shops and businesses which are in the vicinity.

Why is that people cannot hold their bloody drink. People generally go to pubs to socialise, have a good time and not to be in an aggressive atmosphere and look for a fight. Hope that the police managed to get off their arses and catch up with the culprits. By the way, which shop window got smashed?? It is high time that pubwatch kicked in and started banning these sort of people from ALL the pubs in Dorking. I am sick and tired of walking around on a Saturday or Sunday morning seeing vomit on the pavements, shop windows smashed, glass littering the pavements & the roads. How many times does it need to be said, the police need to get back on the beat now and stop sitting in their cozy police station at Reigate!!!

It seems that any pub with a so-called late licence seems to attract trouble ie. The Old House and The Bulls Head. The Old House does not close till midnight on Sunday evening and usually has a band, a DJ or karoake. The problem with these two establishments above, it that the bar staff continually serve people who are very drunk, up for a fight etc. It is very sad that the specialist antique shops have to put up these idiots who continually act in an anti-social manner. Trade down on West Street is bad enough already thanks to the economic downturn and how will it be before the insurers won't pay out for yet another smashed shop window?? Jo

What is 'Super' about a people getting intoxicated at The Old House and then getting involved in a fight that eventually spills onto West Street?????? I find your comment quite offensive when most people go to the pub to have a drink and a chat.

Just thank all the people that complained unneccesarily about the Malthouse, and all those who jumped on the band wagon... Murray Hume the licensing officer who was looking out for the interests of the residents, the local councellor, none of them had the foresight to see the ramifications of attacking this pub.

The problem is, these venure just are not big enough, no where is.

Once again, Dorking stuffs up again.
