Baby Boom - Bailiffs are in

At last, almost a year and a half after it closed the bailiffs have started clearing out Baby Boom in St Martins Walk.

The undercover part of the shopping centre can sometimes oddly seem a little tucked out of the way but there are a few shops which have been trading there for quite a while. The Baby Boom unit is large so offers plenty of scope should anyone be brave enough to move in.

If the manager of St. Martin's Walk (Ralph Rice) has anything to do with the letting of this very large unit, it probably will remain empty for years and years!! He is the most incompetent, idiotic time waster I have ever come across. He never ventures around his shambolic so-called shopping centre. He can be found sometimes hiding in his office at the rear of the centre or most of the time, he cannot be bothered to come into work, as he usually has the nerve to call in sick time and time again!! Who pays Mr. Rice's wages - I hope it not Mole Valley District Council. Remember that not one unit in St. Martin's Walk has been fully let in 2008. The only newcomer is the bridal shop and that is on a short term let till June 2008. With the other remaining empty units in the shopping centre, there has not been one that has been under offer. In other words, there has not been one shread of interest from any retailers in the last four months or so and that is shocking!!

DORKING Dan

Whinge, whinge, whinge.... Another bit of ranting from the infamous Dorking Dan. From the very start of this shopping center, it was doomed to failure. It was poorly planned, there was too many shop units and they were simply just too small to make ends meet. To blame Mr Ralph Rice for all the empty units in St. Martins Walk is very unfair. He is trying his best to attract new businesses down there but the rents laid down by the developers are out of reach of many of the small so-called clone shops. A larger Sainsbury's would be the best option at the 'dead end' of the shopping centre. The Sainsbury's at present on the High Street, is a disgrace to the town of Dorking. x
