The Bulls Head Public House

I see scaffolding is up around the Bulls Head pub in South Street. The paint job looks great on what is an attractive part of the High Street. The Bulls head has become a bit of a strange place of late. It is a nice pub to go for a quiet drink though and is nice inside. I remember the days where it was a no go area for many people - not that it was full of trouble, it was just very clicky with the same group of hardcore drinkers in there all the time. Most of them can now be seen in the Old House at Home pub in West Street.

Just up the road is the disaster where a woman drove into the wall which runs up and over the War Memorial. Repair work has come to a halt and has been left for what is now absolutely ages. Apparently the Council is locked in discussion on who actually owns that wall.

With regards The Bulls Head a paint job was long overdue. Sadly, all the Gales signage is going to be taken down and replaced with Fuller Smith and Turner signage. We already have two other Fuller Smith and Turner pubs -- The Cricketers and The Queens Head. The Gales bitters are going to remain at The Bulls Head and hopefully it retain some of its charm. I have noticed it has become very quiet at the moment and it lacks a little in terms of atmosphere. Still, it is a nice place to have a drink and read the newspapers.

If The Star, which has undergone a renaissance can make it, The Bulls Head can surely do it. It is in the centre of the town, where the High Street meets South Street and it just needs a bit of imagination / tender loving care from the landlords to make it a success again!

Paint job and new signage looks very nice for The Bulls Head. Hopefully, it can give this pub a new lease of life.

As for the wall above the war memorial -- what a joke! Surely, Mole Valley and Surrey County Council can sort this out between them. If the elderly lady was insured, surely her insurance company will pay out and get this repair work started ASAP. What is holding it up???

Went into The Bulls Head for a swift pint. Still very quiet! Thought that the landlord was a little on the anti-social side. He was more interested in rolling his cigarette than serving me a pint. Imagine if Ian (from The Star), John and Tricky (from The Pilgrim), Simon (from The Old House) etc. did that?? He also did not acknowledge me when I came in and when I left. A real shame. Is The Bulls Head still being run by relief managers??? There also does not seem to be much going on in terms of entertainment ie. quiz nights, music, raffles etc. The food also seems to be on the expensive side - in the price range of £6+ and only served between 12 & 2pm!
