Surrey Yeoman - a farce
I went in the Surrey Yeoman on Saturday night and it was busy as it was Brockham Bonfire. They had some big problems though as there was only two bar staff working. When one went to collect the mounting pile of glasses that was accumilating around the pub there was only one person serving. My mate went to the bar and was offered two free pints just to help to collect some glasses!
The pub was so chaotic around the bar that they said they would be closing up at 10.30. We left beforre then as it took over 20 minutes to get a drink.
What a joke! I know unreliable staff can leave a pub short but on a Saturday night when Brockham is on - what a disaster. Bad management is normally to blame here.

Looks like this place will become the 'new haunt' when The Malthouse closes down at some point in the not too distant future! The Surrey Yeoman has become a real dive -- service is non-existant, there hardly ales on offer (only IPA and that is sporadic) and it is attracting a real nasty element. Drug dealing is rife in the toilets and I say most of the people I encountered in there a couple of weeks ago, were underage whose main aim was to get drunk as cheaply as possible.
What a shame.... The Hogshead attracted a good, diverse crowd had partitions between the tables and old pictures of Dorking hanging from the walls. Now, it has been transformed (hmm, hmm) into a bright, chavvy pub complete with sofas and flat screen tv's showing music videos and numerous alcohol ads, cheap drink deals etc. Congratulations to Greene King for destroying this establishment and replacing it with unhelpful, unfriendly staff who don't have a clue and a landlady who never cares to show her face, when the going gets tough!! Just hope that The Star does not get the Yeoman makeover, as it is run by Greene King as well.
The Yeoman is my kind of place. Full of young women, wearing ultra short skirts, skimpy clothing etc. Music pounding, plenty of strong lager and NOT an old fart in sight. If you don't like the Yeoman, nobody forces you to go this pub. There are a few others that might suit you taste like The British Legion, the local bowls or cricket club - yawn;)
