The Hoff - puts Dorking on the map!

It is reported in this weeks Dorking Advertiser that David Hasselhoff (formerly the star of Knightrider and Baywatch) has mentioned Dorking in his latest advertisements for Pipex Broadband. There is a spoof picture on the front of the paper of David standing in front of the Dorking Halls.

Apparently he says "Broadband is available everywhere now, even in towns like Dorking" and then goes on to say "Dorking - Is that really a town?". (Quoted: more or less accurate).

There is a slant on the article that this could be a opportunity for David to visit Dorking and see what it is really like. He has experienced something of a resurgence in fame just recently - Can you imagine The Hoff visiting Dorking.

For a laugh please visit this link at Google Video which will take you directly to the music video of his recent single. (Broadband Only, you also need your speakers on) but trust me, it is well worth a look - a classic that is just so wrong.... Please have a look.

Nice to see the Advertiser defending the town of Dorking. It even relegated the more important news to further inside the paper (ie. drug raids in The Malthouse, The Snakepit a.k.a. The White Hart). A source told me that the police tipped off the pubs in Dorking that they would be searching their premises last Friday night. Little wonder, why nothing was found in the two pubs mentioned above. All in all, my guess is that it was yet another public relations exercise by the Surrey Police.

As for the Hoff, this is not the first time that Dorking has been insulted. Dorking has described as boring, dull suburbia, a real Conservative town with little to do etc. Thankfully, it has not made it into the Crap Towns book just yet! Towns that have been mentioned in this book nearby are Horsham and Woking.

Well to be honest i think horsham and woking are worthy of such a listing it's just a shame they missed out the one that should be at no.1 spot. 'leatherhead'. Our upmarket friendly 'market town' of dorking is in my opinion one of the best!!! that's not just my opinion, phil & kirsty thoght it was great too.!!!!!!!!!
