Councillor hits wife with cloth cap

Reading the article about the Councillor hitting his wife with a cloth cap in front of Police Officers (this weeks Dorking Advertiser) is almost comical, but nevertheless totally embarrasing for him!

Funny that this story made the front pages of the Dorking Advertiser. It was highly amusing and shows the councillors are not above the law. Wish though, the Advertiser could focus on some 'real' stories that affect the community and stop going down the tabloid story route.

Well, well, well....this week's Dorking Advertiser (August 24 2006) front page takes the biscuit! With the headline 'He was standing there naked and had breasts.' Wife devastated by husband's secret sex swap.

How long before it has a page 3 topless girl every week, starts advertising local massage parlours, escort agencies as well as sex lines?? What a really pathetic front page and definitely not at all newsworthy!! It is time the Dorking Ad started hiring some real journalists who looked out for some real stories in Mole Valley rather than going down the cheap and tacky tabloid route! Why don't they just ditch the local news altogether that affects us all (crime, witness appeals, latest with Epsom Hospital, the Cockerel on the Deepdene roundabout, 'new' housing developments etc.)

WOW, this blog has gone really quiet!!!! August 31, 2006. Has anyone ventured into the new WHSmith? Heard that Subway will be opening up in three weeks time. See that the problem with anti-social drivers still exists. I was almost knocked down by a young driver when he blatantly went through a red light by the kebab shop at great speed (ie. in region of 70 mph!) I was too shaken up to note his number plate. Other drivers decided to just drive on and ignore my predictament. Heard on the grapevine, that the Harley dealership might move to the former Mays Garage on South Street and that JDWetherspoons are the front runners for the former Harley dealership on the High Street. Good news, as the price of alcohol might come down in Dorking. Bad news, as some of the pubs might be forced to close as they won't be able to compete with their dwindling sales! One last thing, is it my imagination, or has parking got really bad at all times of the day and night in the High Street? It is generally turned into a one way street, by some really dangerous and inconsiderate parking. Where are the traffic wardens?? Are they on holiday, just like The Cockerel and the other contributors to this blog???? Hmm.....

Personally, I think the new WHSmith is huge disappointment! Yes, the lighting and new flooring is much better but, it seems to be incredibly cluttered and has less stock than ever before. Previously, I had complained about the new M&S. However, I went in their on Saturday and it is really growing on me. The people who work their are very customer friendly and go out of their way to make it a very positive shopping experience. It is very much in same mould as Waitrose. Shame, that other shops cannot emulate this as often the people who work in the shops often ignore you and never smile whilst even serving the public.

Agree that the Dorking Ad seems to be going down market. It seems intent on chasing a cheap and nasty headline! Remember the Dorking, Leatherhead Advertiser and the Surrey Mirror (which focuses on Reigate & Redhill) is published by Trinity Mirror. Trinity Mirror also publish the News of the World amongst numerous other red tops. Look out for my more lazy, tacky and downright crass headlines in the very future.

WHERE is The Cockerel????
Is he -- on holiday, has other pressing commitments etc. Or has he, emigrated??

Surely, there must be some 'news' in Dorking. This blog has been very quiet for a month now. Surely, the 'anonymous' contributors can fill us in on some news, gossip, opinions on what is going on in Dorking, the villages, Mole Valley etc.?
