Puccino's - Getting worse

Puccino's shop front has got worse and worse since it closed. I feel sorry for the pottery painting shop (Fire Your Imagination) next door as it has such an attractive and interesting appearance.

Will Puccino's ever be let? Dorking could do with a quality coffee shop, although that available unit might be just a tad too far out of the centre of town to be desirable.

Something does need to be done here though.

There are quite a few problems with this unit -- first of all, the rent and business rates on these premises is outrageous. Secondly, there are NO unloading or loading facilities with this unit. Therefore, if somebody takes on, they will have to be prepared for their lorries blocking this already narrow part of the High Street. Also this unit is really falling to pieces inside as well and the landlord won't spend any money on doing it up leaving it all up to the tenant. Sadly, this also applies to the former Co-Op Funeral parlour next door. My bet, it is the same landlord -- keen to charge exhorbitant rents and does NOTHING for the incoming tenant in return!!

It is high time that Dorking town centre management pulled their finger out and got onto the landlords. The former Puccino's, funeral parlour, Khyber Pass and Robin Renee hairdressers have ALL been empty for at least two and a half years now. Surely, there must be some legislation to force landlords to do up their dilapidated premises and get them let ASAP.
