Cafe Pandoro Open
An anonymous post on here has reported that the new Cafe Pandoro is great. I hope that this one does well. Also reported is that the trains are back to normal on the Waterloo line after a week or so of disruption. The comments about the cafe are below:-
"Went to the new cafe which has opened up on the High Street on Saturday afternoon called Pandoro. What a lovely place! They are a family who hail from Camberley and are keen to make a real go of it. The paninis were delicious and their homemade shortbread was to die for. It is very reasonably priced and offers a very relaxing and charming atmosphere. As well as sandwiches, they have baked potatoes, soups and homemade lasagne. It is independently run and depends on all our support. So, get yourself to Cafe Pandoro and you will be pleasantly surprised."

Where on the High Street is this new cafe / coffee shop?? I have been looking out for it and I cannot seem to find to it. Are you sure you are not talking about South Street or West Street, by any chance?? oxy
If anyone is interested there are changes to East Surrey Police's counter opening times from Wednesday 2 January:-
DORKING:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday 8am to 4pm
Wednesday 1pm to 9pm
Friday 8am to 9pm
So, if you need to pop along to the police station in Moores Road to report something, make sure it is in these hours stated.
Have had numerous problems recently with the main switchboard number at Surrey Police HQ (Guildford) trying to get through, put on hold for at least ten to fifteen minutes, only to be told that there no police officers in the vicinity of Dorking. An elderly friend of mine witnessed a fight outside KFC a few weeks back. So, as he has no mobile, walked up to the police station, to find the emergency yellow phone outside...out of order!! So, he banged on the door, which was eventually opened by an officer who stated he does not deal with policing in Dorking and that he was a member of the serious crime squad. He said he would pass on the message to Reigate Police Station. Needless to say, he never did and the fight carried on outside the BP garage instead, with about six to eight people punching, kicking and screaming all sorts of things at each other.

Have just seen the very vague plans for the former West Cornish Pasty unit. It appears that some cafe is going to open up in that unit. The plans are not very detailed at all. Mole Valley District Council wants more information from the owner about what sort of food is going to be sold on the premises, a more detailed layout of the cafe (including a seating plan, kitchen facilities etc.). Also the council wants to know if the cafe will be a takeaway as well. A decision will be made in mid to late January 2008, by the planning department at Mole Valley.
According to this weeks Advertiser, the opening times at Dorking police station are being cut from 72 to 53 hours per week. Who says that Dorking police station is not a part-time police station???? Another lame excuse from the Surrey Police saying the reduced hours at the station in Moores Road will make it more cost-effective.
Also noticed that Chymes on the High Street - the new hair salon, is looking like a highly professional outlet. Hopefully, it will attract some more quality retailers down the eastern end of town.

Found Cafe Pandoro on the High Street yesterday afternoon. It was quite busy and the sandwiches, paninis are all freshly made. It was also very good value for money when comparing it to the Starbucks and Costa coffee shops. The only thing that bothers me about this establishment and a lot of sandwich places in general, is that none of the staff were wearing gloves when preparing the food. It really worries me, as all sorts of germs could be present in the food I consume. The only place in Dorking, who follows this basic rule of hygiene is The Jampot, which is near Dorking West Station, The Dorking Business Park etc.

so can anyone tell me here i can get a reasonable priced sandwich etc..in dorking and as i enjoy coffee a perfect cup of coffee not nescafe..............thanks for your help
