Dorking in the Guardian Newspaper
With the new licensing laws approaching there are articles everywhere, I found this interesting one on the BBC which discusses how much people in the UK really drink when compared with our European counterparts. View here
I remember, years ago, there was an article in The Guardian newspaper (the national one) which stated that Dorking was a major hotspot for binge drinking. It was very condescending and was generally based on the high number of pubs per square mile than other similar sized towns. They even published a map in the article pointing out where each pub was.
It is very unlikely we will see a similar article again in a national newspaper. The focus now is on the cities Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham and Nottingham. Funnily enough London is hardly ever reported on this issue.
