Northern Rock queues in Dorking
Hopefully the worst is now over for Northern Rock. It was amazing when this crisis started last Friday as there was a queue of pensioners outside at 9.00am. This increased on Saturday and today (Monday) it had grown ten-fold and was extending right down to the Jane Elliot shop. It will be interesting to see what it is like today (Tuesday) - hopefully much reduced.

I spent Monday afternoon in Dorking and was amazed at the numbers of people queueing along the High Street to get into Northern Rock. It was impossible to get past and these people had the nerve to queue four or five abreast, blocking the pavement entirely. The vast majority of people were elderly, had no manners and were literally forcing Mum's with pushchairs, disabled people onto the busy road (High Street), as they could not get past. Do these people have no shame??
Surely, the employees of Northern Rock or the Surrey Police, should have seen this and acted accordingly before a member of the public was seriously injured by a passing car. Imagine, the scene if a group of youngsters hogged the pavement like these so-called Northern Rock customers on a Friday or Saturday night?? The elderly people would have been outraged and mentioned that the kids have no respect these days etc. and the police would have been called and moved them on and would have probably issued a fixed penalty notice for breaching the peace. Am I just being cynical or are young people always being vilifed in the press whilst some elderly people can get away with being rude and acting in an anti-social way??
Please advise,
DORKING Dan
RATHER THAN GIVING OUT ABOUT ELDERLY PEOPLE QUEUING TO GET THEIR HARD EARNED CASH OUT OF THE NORTHERN ROCK, IT WOULD BE MORE SENSIBLE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE ANTI-SOCIAL DRIVERS WHO ARE ALWAYS YOUUNG AND INCONSIDERATE, THE YOUNG PEOPLE WHO CONTINUE TO CYCLE ON THE PAVEMENTS AND THE YOUNG PEOPLE WHO SPIT, DROP LITTER AND ARE ALWAYS DRUNK AND LOUD ON A THURSDAY, FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHT!!
DORKING DAN - STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT THE ELDERLY AS THEY ARE ALWAYS WELL BEHAVED AND HAVE TO PUT UP WITH A HELL OF A LOT OF ABUSE FROM THE YOUNGSTERS' TODAY! THE YOUNGSTERS IN DORKING ARE ANTI-SOCIAL, BADLY BEHAVED BRATS WHO SPEND MOST OF THEIR TIME GETTING HIGH AND DRUNK. WHEN I SEE THE RIFF RAFF COMING FROM THE ASHCOMBE AND THE PRIORY SECONDARY SCHOOLS, I WORRY ABOUT THE FUTURE OF THIS ONE FINE COUNTRY. THESE KIDS ARE ILLERATE, THUGGISH AND THEIR PARENTS AND TEACHERS SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF ALL OF THEM!!
So you are tarring everybody that goes to these schools with the same brush...how small minded are you. I agree there is a small percentage that are like that, but the majority are fine. You should pull your head out of your arse and look around you.
To the poster a couple up who wrote in capitals 'what a prat you are!' harping on about the well behaved elderly. If the elderly are so decent and upstanding then you tell me why are, all the youngsters in your words, thuggish, illiterate drunk and high. It's people like you that create the great divide between the old and young. Most of the kids from Ashcombe and The Priory are kind, polite and well behaved young adults that are well brought up and morally decent. As for the elderly again most are good people bar a few exceptions. Let me know if I am wrong but I get the impression you are elderly, have racist views, are homophobic and never stop ranting on about the great imperialist days of when this country ruled the world??
p.s. It may be an idea if you are going to brand someone illiterate, learn how to spell it first.
Hear, hear to the two posts above. Where is the angry, anti-social individual who thinks it is very smart to write his comment all in upper case letters????? Grow up and please stop complaining about all the youngsters, they are no worse than any of the other generations. You are not a Daily Mail or a Sun reader by any chance????
Oh my goodness - whoever you are who wrote that horribly negative post (in caps) about the young people in Dorking - I feel very sorry for you. There are many many young people who go to Ashcome and The Priory who are very decent human beings, shaping up to go to University, and preparing for their adult life in the community. You have a very blinkered and biased view!! Open your eyes and look for the good in people rather than the negative, and you might just learn a thing or two about decency!! I believe many of your comments are anti-social and rude - the very things you accuse these school children of.
Sympathy to all the mums pushed out into the road to accomodate queues for Northern Rock. It infuriates me when I have to do this. The elderly should know better.
